The History of 100 Who Care
100 Women Who Care was first started in Jackson, Michigan (USA) by Karen Dunigan in 2008. Her group of 100 women, at their first one hour meeting, raised $10,000 to buy 300 new baby cribs for an organization in their city. Their membership has now grown to nearly 300 members. Sister chapters have popped up all over the US, Canada, and into Mexico. There are now over 500 chapters throughout the continent with more being established everyday.
We are thrilled to now have 100 Who Care in our Guyana community, which will have a great impact on local charity. Guyana, like many places worldwide, is experiencing economic hardship. There is a need for we, who enjoy a better standard of living than those less fortunate, to offer a hand up. Our members are the committed, caring men and women who are either stalwart citizens of Guyana or reside here for several months of the year.
